Contradictions persist as we move forward.
How we determine what forward is, varies from perspective to
perspective. Through our eyes, color enters, motion waves
follow, synapse, culminate in action. A tug and pull creates
momentum, and as we use it to our advantage, we ascent to
higher vibrations. The conversation that travels through organic
matter unravels a unifying dichotomy enabling self awareness.
This. That. There. Here. Both relevant to our current position
and the vast possibilities in front our perception. A moment in
time is anticipated, a frame is captured. Evidence that something
transpired remains as a fragment.
Color vibrates, color has rhythm, color flows. Color influences our decisions and shapes our world. Each color is a frequency and each frequency speed. We perceive form and make decisions. The magic is evident as this transaction occurs perpetually and I as an artist, am an interpreter of the conversation.
Through the camera and in collaboration with dancers, I capture site specific compositions that narrate the communication between light, color, and organic geometry. Each dancer embodies a color and interacts with one another while taking influences from their environment. After the moments are captured, they serve as inspiration to create sculptures which in turn depict an abstract interpretation of the dialogue.
My focus is to direct and narrate human connection. To navigate through this dialogue and examine multiple perceptions. As living creatures, we emit energy, perpetually influence one another, and simultaneously reshape our environment. By understanding this, how can we use it to our advantage?
